About Us
The Pickin' Pocket Vest grew out of our frustration with digging through our fiddle cases and dulcimer bags for picks, hammers, tuners, and capo's at jams and festivals; not to mention having to search for cell phones, ID's, credit cards, money, etc.
We were becoming more and more aware of how much time and effort we were wasting thrashing about for things. Then we remembered the convenience of all those pockets in our fishing and hiking vests.
Although we liked the idea of the pockets, we did not want the look of a hiking vest or the bulk of a fishing vest. A small mountain of prototypes grew as we tested different ideas for a fashionable and discreet pocket vest. Months later, we found just the right combination of attractive fabrics, comfortable fit, and strategic pocket placement.
We say we did all this to be practical and fashionable. However, being completely honest, we do get a kick out of the reactions from people when we pull a ringing cell phone, or some other unexpected item, out of our vest like a magician pulling something out of a hat. It's always good for a chuckle, and, we meet a lot of new friends that way.
The Pickin' Pocket Vest was our first design based on the needs we had as musicians. However, when people started asking for attractive hidden pocket vests to use when shopping, traveling, and going other places, our creativity cranked up a notch and we began making a variety of designs.
Then customers began asking for vests that do even more than look good, fit comfortably and provide convenience. They wanted vests that also make a statement about who they are, highlights their interests, and holds their specific and unique items. This is how we have grown to providing hundreds of fabric styles and a multitude of pocket sizes and shapes.
